Tumo
Sofronie became a partner to bring the TUMO project to Amsterdam. TUMO is a creative digital activity targeted at secondary school students to inspire them to experience digital technologies through the creation of film, games, design, music and many more mediums. Founded in Armenia and now firmly established TUMO is now a global movement. TUMO Amsterdam opened in 2025 with support from OBA, City of Amsterdam, TomTom, Adyen, JustEat Take-away and Miro.
On top of the main centers, TUMO also deployed a network of TUMO Boxes, mobile, technically equipped mini-centers. Boxes can be installed in any city or village and serve as self-study areas for local youth.
TUMO offers extracurricular, innovative education programs in design and technology, providing teenagers with the space and equipment to advance their education while developing technical skills. One unique aspect of TUMO's education model concerns the TUMO Path, a software program developed in-house that places beginning students on a learning plan based on the students' expressed areas of interest, showing the students' rate of progress and letting them know which tasks they need to complete to move on to the next level.
Sofronie decided to bring this project to Amsterdam 2 years ago, and after partnering with the OBA, City of Amsterdam, TomTom, Adyen, JustEat Take-away and Miro, the TUMO Amsterdam is opening in opened in September 2025 in the South East area of the city.
